Applesauce Making!

Evan got a book from the library called Max and Mo Go Apple Picking. There was a recipe for making applesauce in the back that he insisted on trying. So we did! It was so easy and delicious! I want to try the Strawberry Applesauce next time now that they are coming into season. For anyone that wants the recipe, it goes like this:

Mott's Homemade Applesauce

6-8 large granny smith apples
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon

I used my apple peeler/corer/slicer to cut up the apples and then we diced them with a knife. We put them in a pot with the water and cooked them until they were soft for 20-25 minutes on medium heat. Then we added the brown sugar and cinnamon and blended it up with a stick blender. I chilled it in the refrigerator and it was yummy! Ben and I even made Caramel Applesauce milkshakes with vanilla ice cream that night and it was so good!

Mother's Day

I had a really nice Mother's Day this year! My kids had a pretty good day, I woke up to cards and presents and roses, my husband cooked some very yummy food and I even got some special cards and treats at church. It was a great day to be a mom!

I loved the early present Ben gave me-a firepit for our backyard! I have been wanting one and thought it would be fun. It was really too bad that it was so windy that we couldn't use it this weekend but soon! I have the hot dogs and marshmallows ready!

Race for Autism

I think these are the only 2 pictures we got from race day but we had a good time as always. Our school actually got a group to run/walk together so that was really nice. Benjamin and Evan were excited to get into the runner's stance at the start. And Jacob walked the whole time! Fun for a great cause that is near and dear to us.

Late Post on the Pinewood Derby

Benjamin turned 8 just in time to participate in the Pinewood Derby in Cub Scouts. He had a lot of fun working on it, painting it and he actually won a ribbon. He was 3rd out of all the Wolves! Not bad for the first year! Evan went with him and his dad to the competition and had fun seeing all of the different cars.

The Best Star Wars Party Ever!

This was the most amazing birthday party I have ever been to. The kids started out jumping in the Moon Bounce until everyone got there and then everyone donned their robes to begin Jedi training. The mom and dad dressed the parts as well and the games were great. Yoda was even hanging out and helping with the games (Yoda Says, Yoda Potato). The kids played Star Wars Lego bingo with Lego candies and it all ended with balloon light saber fights against Darth Vader and Darth Maul. So cool!
