Getting creative!

So Matthew needed some summer PJ's that would help him keep his diaper on (he's notorious for getting it off even through overalls). So I cut off the sleeves and legs and made these for him. My niece Christian was playing around with the cut off sleeves and said jokingly, "These could be some fingerless gloves!" So I sewed them up for her and they didn't look half bad! You can see them both in the photos.

April Fool's Day Fun!

Some kids in the neighborhood April Fooled my kids into thinking that we had a grape bush! LOL

My niece has been with us for her Spring Break so we went all out with an April Fool's dinner from Famil Fun magazine. We made "cupcakes" that were really mini-meat loaves topped with mashed potatoes for the frosting. For dessert, we did "meatloaf with mashed potatoes" that were really cocoa rice crispy treats with pieces of Starburst gummies cut up to look like tomatoes and celery. On the side there were "mashed potatoes and gravy" which was really vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce. It was really fun!

This really looks like meatloaf and mashed potatoes and gravy!

Balloon Fun!

The kids had a lot of fun with these balloons that Aunt Linda sent them!

Evan and Model Magic

Evan has been into clay and model magic lately and I was really impressed when he created this! He colored the white clay into these colors and then twisted it into this design. It looks like a lollipop!

Blue and Gold Banquet

Benjamin gets his Bobcat badge.

They put it on upside down until he does a good turn:)

Benjamin helps with the flag ceremony.

Last Friday, we attended our first Blue and Gold banquet for Cub Scouts with Benjamin. He worked very hard to earn his Bobcat badge just in time. He got to lead the flag procession and had a great time. Above, you see the Webelos doing a skit.

Chili Cook Off

This weekend was the annual Chili Cook Off at church. Ben has been trying to win for the past 2 years and finally came home with a winner in the Spicy category!

Ben's chili was sweet and spicy with his pork that he roasted and sweet peppers. There was none of it left and lots of people gave him some very nice compliments and asked for the recipe.

My chili had steak and bacon with some cocoa powder and root beer! I was really happy with how it turned out and there wasn't much left. I got lots of compliments on it.
